I recently had the chance to experiment with a hair threading tool designed for at home use: Lindo twist-n-roll tweezers. It is a hand operated coil device that removes facial hair from the root. The coil can be rolled over the upper lip, chin, cheeks and forehead to remove hair of varying thicknesses.

For those of you who remember the original Epilady that operated with electrically powered rotating coils, Twist-n-roll tweezers will seem like a familiar concept. Twist-n-roll tweezers is a much quieter and gentler way to employ a coil for hair removal.
To use, softly bend the coil into an upside down U shape. You will want to position the coil at the base of the area you have chosen for hair removal. Turn the pink handles outward. Glide the coil upward. The main difficulty I experienced at first was to determine how deep of a bend I needed in the coil and how to angle it appropriately. After a few minutes, I was able to remove hair comfortably.
Before using Twist-n-roll tweezers on your face, I would advise pulling your hair back into a ponytail or using a headband if needed. I only caught a few auburn hairs when experimenting with using Twist-n-roll on my cheeks, but this is wholly avoidable.
Twist-n-roll tweezers does a fine job at removing hair on the upper lip area. I started using it about a week after I had waxed. It has kept the re-growth of hair to a minimum. While Twist-n-roll tweezers won't catch and pull out every hair, it does thin hair significantly enough that most people would find it a sufficient hair removal method.
I also thought it worked well on the fine hair on my cheeks and chin. It removes enough of the fair hair to be noticeable in bright sunlight. This is the first time I have tried to remove hair on my cheeks. I can see how this would be useful for ladies who take close up photos in bright light. Again, it won't remove every hair, but the results are visible.
While the instructions state that you can use Twist-n-roll tweezers over make-up, I achieved a better result when using the coil over clean, dry skin. You can still remove hair when wearing make-up. I just find the coil picks up more hair when there is less oil on the skin.
While no hair removal technique that pulls hair out from the root is pain free, Twist-n-roll tweezers felt more like a hum of sensation. That intense ripping feeling with waxing isn't present because you are pulling smaller amounts of hair with each rotation of the coil. The site recommends using a hot towel as a compress before hair removal, but I didn't need to do so. The sensation of the coil wasn't unpleasant considering its purpose. The feeling is gentler than tweezing because the hair is whisked off the face more quickly.
I feel this is a method I am going to use along with waxing. Since Twist-n-roll tweezers is too large and not precise enough to groom eyebrows, I will still be utilizing my waxing kit, but far less often. When I shape my eyebrows, I will do a touch up waxing on my upper lip.
The twist-n-roll tweezers will thin the hair enough that I technically wouldn't need to wax. I still would like to occasionally have my upper lip waxed completely free of hair. I like the idea of beginning anew and using the twist-n-roll to maintain a clean appearance on my upper lip area.
Twist-n--roll tweezers is a useful device. I love the convenience of being able to remove unwanted facial hair quickly, without the effort required with waxing or the chemical smell associated with depilation. I am glad I had the opportunity to try it and I plan to purchase a replacement when needed.
