Never Say Goodbye: MK Sandy Rose

Hello Sandy Rose!

Before you say goodbye to your polish, think again... Maybe it is true, nail polish doesn't have to have an expiration date. This Sandy Rose polish courtesy of Mary Kay is over three years old, and the color is still as radiant as ever.

Tips for Keeping Nail Polish Fresh:

1. Exposure to direct sunlight and bright places can transform the color and texture of the polish. Try keeping it in darker places like a cabinet or in a storage box when not in use.

2. Minimize exposure to extreme heat. This means storing them in the console of your car or in your gym bag (which just happens to be in the trunk) is not a good idea.

3. Keep the bottle neck clean. Polish spillage will become hard and inhibit the bottle from closing properly, which allows air inside. Air can cause your polish to become thick and unusable.

4. Many reports indicate that keeping the polish in the refrigerator can maintain freshness. (BUT... I mean really, who has enough room in their fridge for bottles of polish especially us polish hoarders).

5. Some articles I read online indicated that it might extend the life of your polish if you keep the bottles upright as opposed to laying on its back/side or upside down.

6. If the unthinkable happens, and your polish does become (gasp) clumpy and thick, try using a polish thinner to restore it back to its original consistency. Do not mistake a polish remover for polish thinner.

I used two coats and finished with Sally Hansen's 30 second top coat. It may be difficult to see in the picture, but it does have an iridescent  effect (pink, brownish, yellowish tint).
