THREE OF MAC'S NEW COLORS

Swatch Week in full effect!!!

I have three of Mac's new colors I would like to share with you all. I'm not really impressed with them and found them difficult to work with! My swatches normally look better than this, so I apologize in advance. But I had been doing tons of swatches and they all were bitches to apply.

MALIBU PEACH
This isn't quite as orange or bright as it looks in the picture, but at least this is more color accurate than MAC's website!! Not my kind of color at all, I have realized that the orange peaches are ones I don't like, I like the pinker tinted peaches. NOTE TO SELF - Stop buying orange tinted peaches!!! This was super streaky, and after three coats you can still see some bald (or BOB spots as my son says it) spots.





GALORE PINK
This color I really liked. I am being drawn to these types of pinks lately and I like it! This color too was a PITA to apply. Streaky, but not near as bad as Malibu Bitch....er I mean Peach! I need to compare this with my Hello Kitty pink I have from Mac, they seem as though they could be similar.





IMPERIAL SPLENDOR
Such a dramatic name, MAC, lol. This color applied the best, with the least amount of streaks, but as you can see there are still some bald spots. These weren't as noticeable until the flash went off, so that at least is a plus. Also this color isn't as dark as it seems in the pictures either.

Omnipresent zombies!

Hello ladies,

Today was undeniably grey and filled with zombies! My friend David and I strolled through Lambertville, NJ to appreciate the leaf change and enjoy the Halloween decorations. The townspeople show equal pride and neighborly competitiveness in adorning their front porches with tombstones, skulls, ghosts, bats, cobwebs, rats and skulls . My nails weren't the only location for zombies! 

The zombie girl was stamped in black Konad special polish using plate M13. The base for the design is MAC $$$$$Yes. Hard Candy Sweet P forms the funky french.

The owner of the house calls this doll "the angry teenager".

Orange and gold leaves through a fine mist of rain.

I was complaining about my zombies over dinner with my boyfriend Kyle last night. Konad special polish in black and the smooth, mirror like finish of MAC $$$$$Yes did not couple well. I had to redo two nails because the zombies literally melted once I applied the Konad topcoat. I have to admit it was amusing listening to a big guy trying to reassure me about my manicure skills, melting zombies notwithstanding.

I really love $$$$$Yes. The name entertains me. The color is what I wanted NYC Steele to be. It's a muted and reflective silver. Like most MAC polishes, the application is tricky and required three coats for opacity. I believe the central problem with MAC lacquers are the brushes and not the formula. I find the bristles a little stiff compared to other polishes. A light touch is needed to keep the color on the nail and not dragging towards the tip on the second coat. There are some brushstrokes with $$$$$Yes, but it has more of a striping appearance like brushed steel rather than a frosty polish look. $$$$$Yes has recently been re-promoted by MAC.

Hard Candy Sweet P is lovely despite the missing vowels in the name. I support tiny green glitter particles in the color of legumes. Two coats were required for the funky french. The glitter appears less concentrated in the photo than in life. I think those zombies were being tricky again!

IDENTIFY THIS COLOR

Hey smart ladies!! Need to borrow your brains for a minute. My mom picked up several polishes at a garage sale for me and I came across one that didn't have a label. I own only 3 Mac nail polishes (the Hello Kitty collection) and I don't have a clue as to what this color is. Hoping you all might help me to identify it.

UPDATE: MYSTER SOLVED! Thanks to ANON, the name of the color is FLUID, just like it is printed on the bottom of the bottle. :)

Rockstar tips and a jaunty butterfly

Hello ladies,

Another overcast day in Philadelphia, but I still meandered to the community garden with a hot cafe au lait to replace the energy of the reclusive sun. I am wearing MAC For Fun, a dusty purple creme from the Jin Soon collection for fall. I painted on glitter tips with Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in Rock Star Pink. Please squint and add sunbeams.

The brown butterfly above turned towards the camera and moved her front leg forward jauntily. While sipping nectar through her proboscis, she posed.

MAC For Fun is a beautiful purple shade with violet leanings. I selected For Fun because of my compulsion for purple. I wasn't expecting to be so charmed by it. Three coats made it slightly darker than bottle color. I don't believe I have a purple quite like For Fun in my collection. I was anticipating the shade to instantaneously conjure a list of duplicates once I had it on my nails. While a purple creme isn't likely to map new territory, I will call this a worthy retread. 

The formula was a little challenging, but typical for MAC. It took three coats for evenness. The brush seemed to drag the polish instead of distributing it smoothly across the surface of the nail. For a company that produces stellar make up brushes, I wish MAC could fit a brush into a polish bottle that would paint gracefully. I love the color too much to give up my bottle. This typifies my relationship with MAC lacquer.

Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Rockstar Pink is a wonder of multihued glitter. Hot pink, blue, red and silver glitter float together in a clear base. While the color inside is a fabulous cosmos, they need to fire the person who came up with the tacky label design. Compare the sleek appearance of the MAC bottle to the busy textbook that is X-treme Wear. Application was gloppy, but I am pleased with it for a funky french. I was able to cover the nail without worrying about needing to build the color.

THE HELLO KITTY'S MEOW

Well I did my final manicure for my Las Vegas trip last night. Since I have not packed yet, and really have no idea what all I am taking, I figured I was going to need all of tonight to get ready. My plane leaves at about 11am tomorrow morning - so I better get everything I need to do done tonight. And of course the BF is soooo worried about what he is going to eat I might have to get a couple of little meals ready so he will just have to pop them in the micro while I'm gone.

I have also been un-patiently waiting for some "fauxnad" plates I ordered on ebay to come in. They finally did yesterday!!! I couldn't be more excited because there is a Hello Kitty design on one of the plates. I have been trying to hold off using my new MAC Hello Kitty nail polishes because I wanted to use them with this plate.

:::EDIT::: I ordered my Fauxnad plates from HERE on ebay. I had great results with this Ebay seller. They do come from Hong Kong - so expect about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks for delivery time. They are called Stamping Nail Art Image Plates. Polish Pixie has orded from here with good results too :)

After SEVERAL trial and errors on seeing what would work with the design I had in mind, I used only the MAC - Something About Pink of the Hello Kitty polishes. I will use the others another time.

I am so eff-ing pleased with this Koni I could cuss :) After I finally got the color combo's down, it turned out cuter than I imagined it would. I took a TON of pictures of it and plan on sharing them all with you. So even though it is the same thing over and over again in the pics I can't quit looking at them :)



First the pic's and them I will tell you all how I did it!

For the base I used MAC - Something About Pink. A total Barbie pink in my book! I really liked this color on than I did in the bottle. It was really nice with my skin tone I think. I then used Konad SP in white and used the houndstooth pattern from my konad plate. I then used Konad SP in black to stamp the Hello Kitty heads. I also picked up a great tip off Konad's website, that in order to minimize the streaking only brush over the nail one time with the top coat. "Overworking" the top coat will cause smearing. And as you can see, it really worked good! I just concentrated on covering the black polish and knew I could always come back later and recover the whole nail with another coat of Seche to smooth it out.

Next, you know I had to bling up my nails, after all I am going to the King of Bling city! So I added two clear, round rhinestones for the eyes on all of my nails! How cute is that?

So how do you think I did ladies? Who is ready to come over to my house and get their nails "Hello Kitty-ed"?
