Smooth and Polished Giveaway Winner!

Hello ladies,

Today the winner was chosen for the Smooth and Polished Giveaway with the assistance of our impartial judge, Cybele the ferret.
Witness her expression of sheer resolve!
A tiny bowl containing about 500 hand written entries.

I stashed a little kibble at the bottom in case Cybele wanted a snack.
Cybele was ready!
First, she belly flopped over the entries.
Then she took a minor detour in the grass...
And circled back to give the entries more thorough consideration.
She began mixing them with her nose.
And dove into the pile of papers!
A bit of rolling about helped narrow the selection.
She shook the entries off...except for one!
The winner is cherrycola. However, she spells it like this: ch3rryco1a. Cute!

Cybele waved goodbye or perhaps she was requesting some tiny nail art. Thank you, Cybele!

Many warm congratulations to ch3rryco1a! Please stop by her blog, How Should I Presume? for lovely Konad nail art. Look for the occasional cameo from her kitty, Autumn!

Thanks to Skin MD Natural for offering bottles of their Shielding Lotion in regular and SPF 15 formulas to our lucky winner! I will be mailing the four discontinued polishes this weekend and catching up on all my other mailing as well.

A special thanks to Pixie Rose and her very agreeable boyfriend for helping to wrangle Cybele for the contest proceedings.

Happy painting, ladies!

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion and garden tulips

Hello ladies,

I have been using Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion over the past few weeks. My dry, sensitive skin requires daily moisturizing with quality, emollient ingredients to remain smooth and supple. What impressed me the most about this shielding lotion is it's ability to help improve minor skin conditions as well as moisturize.

Several years ago, I had a strong allergic reaction to Lush products. I was so excited when Lush opened a Philadelphia location that I purchased shampoo, conditioner, various soaps, bath bombs and massage bars. I ended up with weeping eczema on my legs and hands. It took many months for the skin on my calves to heal. I was left with a small oval of redness that would not respond to any treatment. There was only discoloration and no dry skin texture. I assumed this was scarring from the eczema.

I used Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion and my skin showed visible signs of healing in three days. After a few weeks of use, the discoloration has faded so much that it is barely noticeable. I showed a friend of mine and she was so impressed she is looking into purchasing Skin MD Shielding Lotion for her husband, who suffers from occasional outbreaks of eczema. I am very grateful for this product.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion also helped heal dry skin on my upper arms. When I was a teenager, I had an issue with Keratosis Pilaris, a skin condition that causes tiny bumps on the upper arms. I still have a slight appearance of this condition. I noticed the shielding lotion helped soften the skin and seemed to minimize Keratosis Pilaris. I really wish Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion had been available when I was a teenager. I will definitely recommend it to my sisters for their teenage girls.

I didn't find the shielding lotion moisturizing enough as a nighttime facial treatment. I did use the SPF 15 formula for a protective daytime lotion and was pleased with the results. Normal, combination or oily skins may have better results for evening use. I need a thicker creme for overnight.

Similarly, I prefer a body butter for treating dry patches. As much as I loved the shielding lotion for help with skin conditions, it doesn't seem to heal a dry patch as quickly as a thicker formulated cream. That said, I would love it if Skin MD produced a cream formula to add to their skin shielding product line.

Skin MD sent their shielding lotion for my consideration. To purchase a bottle of shielding lotion, please visit skinmdnatural.com. For a chance to win a bottle of Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion, stop by the Smooth and Polished Giveaway.

The community garden is beginning to show signs of growth and beauty. Tulips create a wave of silky red. Nearby, tiny leaves emerge from first plantings. There will be many more flower pictures in the months to come.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen SPF 15

Hello ladies,

One of the things I feel strongly about when it comes to the health of the skin is daily use of sunscreen on the face. I wear a moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher every day to protect my skin against sun exposure. This has been a daily practice for me since I was 12 years old. I have tried many facial moisturizers with SPF and can attest that the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen is a quality product.

Admittedly, the thought of using a shielding lotion on my face was daunting. I was concerned the trademark protective layer offered by Skin MD lotion would feel sticky or oily to the touch. I was worried about my make-up refusing to blend properly. I also was troubled that I would notice the shielding ingredients and they would feel heavy on the skin.

Thankfully, my concerns were alleviated after one use of Skin MD Shielding Lotion. The formula felt light in texture. It glided across my skin, leaving the surface layer smooth beneath the touch of my fingers. Hours later, my cheeks and my forehead still felt smooth and hydrated. This is remarkable since my skin type is dry and sensitive. It was wonderful to find a product that is moisturizing and gentle, while still providing adequate sun protection.

The lotion with sunscreen does not perform like a typical product with SPF 15. Usually I have to wait at least five minutes before applying my makeup. I have often found other natural products with sunscreen to be overly emollient. The Skin MD Shielding Lotion absorbed easily. The protective layer felt very much like the natural softness of well cared for skin.

I also appreciate the neutral scent of Skin MD Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen SPF 15. It doesn't have the tropical beach scent typical of many SPF products. I do not want my face to smell like sweetened coconut 365 days a year! There is a slight hint of the floral and herbal ingredients. I don't think it would be perceptible to most people not familiar with the extracts of comfrey and chamomile. There is a slightly leafy smell with a hint of golden fruit and flowers. Chamomile can smell a bit like apples.

I also noticed the scent of aloe, which has a watery and green aroma. I would classify the scent overall as lightly herbal and gender neutral. The smell is pleasant and calm. To discern any scent, I had bring the bottle to my nose. I didn't notice any particular fragrance while wearing the lotion.

Other botanical ingredients include extracts of arnica and yarrow. The formula also contains Vitamin E. I was impressed reading the ingredients list and seeing a mixture of plant extracts known for their healing and skin soothing properties.

I would certainly recommend Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen SPF 15. I hope in the future, an SPF 30 formula is released. I prefer using a higher SPF in summer weather. I would like there to be one available with the hydrating and skin protective qualities found in the Skin MD formula. For all the bottles of lotion that fill my bathroom cabinet, I can't really think of another quite like it.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen SPF 15 was sent to me for review. This product can be purchased from skinmdnatural.com. For a chance to win a bottle of Skin MD Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen and the standard formula Skin MD Shielding Lotion, please visit the contest post.

Happy painting, ladies!
