My bunny in the marigolds hopped over to disapprovingrabbits.com

Hello ladies,

Recently I encountered a wild bunny who favored eating marigolds. He is now a part of the community at disapprovingrabbits.com. Please visit my wild bunny and experience the many other faces of disapproval at one of my favorite amusing animal sites. I am delighted my picture was included!

Below is another bunny I met in the garden this week:
I see you!

Should I come out to play?

Perhaps I will just hop away. Bye, little bunny!

Happy painting, ladies!

Bunny in the marigolds!

Hello ladies,

I made a new acquaintance in the garden this morning. A wild rabbit and I were enjoying the flowers, each in our own way.
Why hello, little rabbit!

I see you share my appreciation of these fine flowers!

Marigolds bring delight to all.

This bunny is still very young. A sociable little lad! I was leaning over the low fencing, only two feet away when taking these pictures. He seems more like a pet, doesn't he?

Happy painting, ladies!

Starry Temptress Giveaway Winner!

Hello ladies,

The judging of the Starry Temptress Giveaway! is upon us. The winner will be determined in an epic battle of Bodhi the Rottweiler vs. a mountain goat. Who will win?

Bodhi looks on with a warrior's spirit.

The mountain goat stands his ground. He conceals 725 hand written contest entries within.

Bodhi sizes up the situation.

And gets a leg up on the competition.

Bodhi looks for signs of inspiration.

And steamrolls his way to victory.

Not one to be behind the competition,

Bodhi tosses it aside.

With one name left in the belly of the goat,
Bodhi reveals the winner! Miss Midnight Blue!

Good boy, Bodhi!

Congratulations, Miss Midnight Blue! Many of you will recognize her name from her warm comments here and on other nail and beauty blogs. She is a long time reader of painted Lady fingers.

Many thanks to Color Club/Forsythe for sponsoring this giveaway!

A special thanks to Dave, Bodhi's companion, for his help in the proceedings. I met Dave through my friend, David. Bodhi is the rescue dog he adopted several months ago. Dave has done great work with helping Bodhi to acclimate to city life, encouraging him to be both sociable and friendly. Bodhi has become quite the ladies' man, much like his owner.

For a dose of mischief, you can see Thistle the kitten's willful avoidance of judging this giveaway.

Please stop by the You're A Goddess: Giveaway! for a chance to win the BB Couture A Touch of Greece/Ladies Collection, winner's choice of six eye shadows from Overall Beauty Minerals, an Athena owl pendant from Blendo and eye and facial serums from The Skin Society.

Happy painting, ladies!

Queen's Bounty: Color Club Broken Tokens

Hello ladies,

When I created this manicure, I was thinking about pearls, diamonds and silver pieces spilling out of a black velvet bag. I imagined jewel encrusted brooches and golden pendants, a bounty for a queen.

I began with a basic black mini polish from Color Club. I drew a diagonal line with an Art Club striper in Gold Hologram. I varied the angle of the line on each hand. With silver crackling polish, I filled in half the nail. On the left hand, I added Broken Tokens to the lower half; on the right, towards the top of the nail. Decals, silver and gold gems and pearls were chosen from the Pretty Shiny Things Kit.

The Art Club Gold Hologram striper makes exquisite rainbows.

My right hand showing varied placement of striper lines and silver polish.

Daisy flower ring on my right hand.

A baby praying mantis!

Like a prayer.

Reaching a foot to its mouth like a human baby. So sweet!

A baby bunny! She has natural eyebrow markings! Adorable!

Bye, bye bunny!

Broken Tokens is my first crackling polish since the Cover Girl line from many Halloweens past. The formula is easy to work with. I prefer layering on a thick coat for bolder fault lines. The shimmer is elegant in Broken Tokens. I highly recommend adding this color to your collection.
I hope you enjoyed my experiment with the Fractured polish. I am looking forward to trying the rest of the collection. Perhaps the next shades I have for review Smash Hit (black) and Clean Break (white) will attract more garden friends. If you like mantids, check out the baby praying mantis I met last summer. Have you ladies seen any baby animals recently?

Items mentioned in this post were sent for review. Broken Tokens, part of the Fractured Collection, is available for purchase at victoriasnailsupply.com. They also sell the Art Club Pretty Shiny Things Kit.

Cheeky bunny slippers: Diamond Cosmetics Razzmatazz

Hello ladies,

I had two dwarf rabbits as a child and I have been dreaming of getting a lop eared house bunny. There may be a new cheeky faced and fuzzy tailed member of my little household in the fall. Until then, I will have to be content with rabbit slippers.

The look was created with Migi Nail Art pens. I began by drawing the half circle of the rabbit face and the outline of the ears. I used the brush to paint white faces and the pen to shade in the ears. I left the center oval of each ear empty of color and highlighted them with an Art Club striper in Malmsy, a deep pink foil.

To create the noses and mouths, I layered black over a violet shimmer pen. I think it gives it more of a watercolor feel. The eyes were done with the Migi pen as well, but it may be worth experimenting with a dotting tool. I love how each of the bunnies has a different expression. My middle finger is jolly while my pinky looks a bit disgruntled. I used pink rhinestones to make them cheeky.

Razzmatazz is a beautiful pink with a strong violet shimmer and subtle duochrome. I wore Razzmatazz for a couple days before creating the bunny nail art. I loved the reflection in the sun and the soft color change in lower light. The formula is sheer, yet builds well. I am wearing three coats over Super Base. If you are a pink lover, I recommend adding Razzmatazz to your collection.

I received some inspiration for this manicure from the lovely Agnes from Beauty Vibes. She created a look called Blushing Bunnies and I kept thinking about white rabbits with pink cheeks! Are there any other bunny manicures you believe I would enjoy? Feel free to share a link in the comments. Do you love bunnies as much as I do?

Products in this post were sent to me for review. Razzmatazz can be purchased in the US from diamondcosmetics.com and internationally from boozyshop.nl. The Gold Nail Art Pen Set #100 is available at miginailart.com.

Happy painting, ladies!

FOTD: Fawn of the Day

Hello ladies,

I went on a woodland walk with my friend Sarada yesterday. The weather was temperate and overcast. The afternoon was suffused with a green glow from the moss and leaves. Along the Violet Path at the Wildflower Preserve, we made the acquaintance of a lovely forest creature: the spotted fawn.
A friendly faun, she was no shrinking violet.

Striking a pose!

The little faun was almost tame. She was as curious about us as we were about her. Only a few feet away from the Violet Path sign, she seemed to enjoy the interest and attention. As we walked along the path, she trotted about the greenery nearby occasionally stopping to listen to us beckon her. Such a sweet little baby! I hope we can see her again when she's grown.

Butterflies! The Academy of Natural Sciences

Hello ladies,

This week my friend Drew and I decided to explore the Butterflies! exhibit at The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. It was such a respite from city life to interact with live butterflies in a tropical habitat!

A Clipper butterfly at rest on the foliage.

Sipping nectar.

Looks like he is wearing a single striped sock.

A fine day to you too!

A popular drinking spot.

So lovely, like a delicate fan.

Pardon me, but I could use a lift.

Quite a fanciful hitchhiker!

The owl butterfly.

This butterfly did not abandon his post.

My new friend, and lace enthusiast, the owl butterfly.

We were so amazed how sociable the owl butterfly was! Drew held the parasol* for me as the owl butterfly modeled. Our new companion remained in position even as I opened my sun umbrella and set it on the floor!

I hope you enjoyed sharing the delights of the day!

Happy painting, ladies!

*It is important to note when Drew was holding the battenburg lace parasol, we referred to it as the Power-sol to make the experience more manly. I am sure you can sense the omnipresent testosterone exuding from this post. Grrr!
